Let’s pretend to be an Animal Caretaker!
Today you get to be a caretaker at Tiny Tails to You, just like me! Caretakers have a very important job at Tiny Tails to You. We take care of the animals every day to keep them happy and healthy!
What animals will you choose?
Start by picking the animals you would like to care for. (You may want to learn about some of our animals before you get started!) Be sure to make a different enclosure for each animal. Finally, choose how to make your enclosures for your animals. You can draw it on a piece of paper, make a diorama out of a shoebox or you can make a life-size zoo for you or your stuffed animals! Use pillows and blankets to make the fence of your enclosure, and use actual objects to add everything you or your stuffed animal needs!
What's in the animal's enclosure?
To be a good animal caretaker, you need to make sure your animal has everything it needs in its enclosure. Just like us, all animals need food, water, shelter, and plenty of space to run around. You can also add anything else you think your animal would like to do or play with! What does this animal like to eat and drink? Where will this animal sleep? What does this animal like to do for fun and exercise? Be sure to include all of these things in your enclosure to keep your animal happy and healthy!
Let's see your creation!
Finally, you are done! Tell a friend or family member all about your animal and the things you added and why you added them. Compare your animals and see how their needs are different and how they are the same.
Here is an example I drew for you!
In Cheese the bearded dragon’s enclosure there is a food bowl with greens and bugs for him to eat. There is a water bowl where he can drink and play. There is a cave for him to sleep in. There is also a tree branch for him to climb and lay on.
Quillie Nelson the hedgehog has a special water bottle to drink from and a food bowl with food and mealworms for him to eat. There is also an exercise wheel because he loves to run at night and some balls which are his favorite toy! Then I drew a hidey house for him to sleep in. We can't wait to see your animal enclosure creations!
