Birthday Parties

HOW WE RUN BIRTHDAY PARTIES

We love making each child’s birthday a day they’ll never forget. We start each program with our “birthday child introduction” where the birthday child gets to open the baskets of animals and “unveil” them to their guests! (One and two year-olds can be aided by an adult)

The birthday child gets to stay in the pen for the entire zoo if they’d like while we rotate their friends through. They get to sit on little stools (which we bring) and we give them mats to put in their laps, and then we hand them animals to hold throughout the zoo. Our zoo is very unique in that the kids get a lot of one-on-one time with our animals and the zoo is very organized. We also give  educational information about our little friends throughout the zoo

Please note: the two weekends before Halloween and Easter are our busiest. We will have a 1.5 hour minimum for zoos those weekends.

**Sales tax and a $1.50/mile, one-way travel fee apply to all zoos. Travel fee is calculated from our location near 51st and I-35 in Austin.

What makes us different?

Our traveling petting zoo has small and miniature animals only. We bring little stools for children (and adults!) to sit on, we hand them mats to put in their laps, and then we hand them different little animals to hold throughout the zoo. This is a very unique experience as everyone gets a lot of one-on-one time with the animals, and the zoo is very well organized. We also fill our zoos with educational animal facts!

Please note: the two weekends before Halloween and Easter are our busiest. We will have a 1.5 hour minimum for zoos those weekends.

Pet Therapy

ABOUT ANIMAL-ASSISTED THERAPY

The goal of this therapy is to improve a patient’s social, emotional, or cognitive functioning. Animals can also be useful for educational and motivational effectiveness for participants.

The therapeutic use of pets as companions has gained increasing attention in recent years for a wide variety of patients.. Unlike people, with whom our interactions are often very complex and unpredictable, animals provide a constant source of comfort and focus for attention. Animals bring out our nurturing instinct and make us feel safe and unconditionally accepted. We can just be ourselves around them.

HOW OUR PET THERAPY PROGRAMS WORK

It depends on the needs of the group. For our programs for adults, we allow everyone to sit in your facility’s comfortable chairs and we give mats for 6-10 people at a time (depending on the needs of the clients and number of available helpers), and then we hand them animals to hold in their laps. Our therapy animals include bunnies, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, bearded dragons, miniature chickens, tortoises, and geckos. We’re sure to talk with everyone about how to pet and hold the animals as well as give animal facts and interesting information about them.

PRICING FOR THERAPY EVENTS

These programs can accommodate up to 30 adults at a time or 12-15 children, and can be broken down into 15-30 minute groups. Call for details!

Petting-Zoo Style Presentations

  • 15-20 minute programs for groups of 10-16 children at a time, one hour minimum.
  • To decide how long your group would need our zoo, please give us a call!
  • We start with an educational introduction to the animals (Singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" while unveiling a new animal with each verse, and then have children in the pen 5-8 at a time.
  • Children sit on stools with mats in their laps to hold animals that our staff hand them.
  • One-on-one animal connections for your students!
  • Our staff gives educational animal facts and talks with everyone about how to safely pet and handle the animals throughout these zoo programs.

How these programs work

Up to 16 children at a time visit the zoo for 15-20 minute blocks of time. We can start each time block with one of our introductions (described below!) and then allow 8 children in the pen at a time (call us for prices on smaller groups or fewer kids in the pen at a time). The children sit on little stools which we bring, we give them mats to put in their laps, and we hand them animals to hold throughout the zoo.

For children ages two and under, we will have them sit in a circle and we will bring the animals around for them to pet. They can hold the animals in the pen if you are able to provide several adult helpers.

Old McDonald Introduction!

Our most popular introduction. Together, we all sing Old McDonald Had a Farm! We bring at least 10 very sweet animals. As each chorus is sung to the group, a new live animal is brought out and the children must identify the animal to continue the song. It’s a lot of fun! We will have a variety of animals including: baby chicks, tortoises, bunnies, miniature chickens, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, ducklings, bearded dragons, geckos, and/or chinchillas!

Story Time Introduction!

This can be performed by itself or just before the Old McDonald Intro. We'll read 1-2 stories that have some of our animals as characters, and we'll make the stories interactive for everyone (we'll have the children "slow walk" like tortoises, hop like bunnies, tell us the names of certain animals, etc).
